How it is made

The join is called tope teni: the pallu is woven separately in pure silk, then locked to the cotton body loop by loop. It is the reason an Ilkal drapes heavy at one end and light at the other.

Ilkal cotton woven flat — fine bronze warp stripes beside a deep red pallu banded in silver.
The swatch, shot flat at the same distance as the other six.
