Kanchipuram silk
Body, border and pallu are woven apart, then locked together thread by thread.
Three shuttles, three separate cloths. The border and the mundhi are woven on their own and interlocked with the body rather than stitched, and the join is stronger than the cloth around it — a Kanchipuram can tear in the body and keep its border.
